  • Wander along the riverside walkway to the Gardens from the Novotel. It’s an easy 3-4km walk. Admission is $20 and they have a cafe there.

  • Waitomo’s stunning scenery extends beneath the surface to a great subterranean network of caves. More than 300 of them are scattered across this sleepy farming district. 67km / 1 hour's drive from Hamilton. Daily 45-minute tours are available but need to book in advance.

  • Alltrails walk - this track takes you to the beautiful Ngarunui Beach, Raglan’s main swimming and surfing spot. The path down to the beach goes through a lovely patch of coastal forest, full of nīkau palms, kawakawa, and kōwhai trees. Once you reach the beach, you are greeted by the famous black sand and the wild west coast surf. Just over an hour's walk, in & out, just under 5km with 70m elevation gain.
